Reiki
Rei – Spiritual, Ki – Energy.
What Is Reiki?
Reiki is the vital life energy which flows through all living things. Reiki practitioners believe that everyone has the ability to connect to life force energy and use it for the purposes of strengthening the Ki (or life energy) for themselves and others.
The Reiki practitioner channels the energy through their hands to the recipient, activating the body's natural ability to support itself, which was developed by Mikao Usui in Japan early in the 20th century and was brought to the West by Hawayo Takata in 1938.
Reiki is a safe, non-intrusive, non-diagnostic and non-manipulative complementary therapy that can help to relax, de-stress, re-balance and re-charge the mind, body and spirit, helping you to maintain a healthy, stress-free lifestyle.
Reiki’s gentle energy is safe for people of all ages, including pregnant mothers, newborns and surgical patients. I personally have used Reiki on my daughter during the whole of her pregnancy and I regularly use it on my growing granddaughter.
Reiki can enhance everyday living and regular Reiki healing sessions may help to develop a healthier and more resourceful state of being. Reiki is now being used in some GP surgeries, hospitals, hospices, cancer support groups as well as complementary therapy centres and private practices.
A Reiki session is usually carried out with the recipient / client lying down or sitting in a clean, comfortable and peaceful environment. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki energy (Ki) will pass through all materials including plaster casts.
The Reiki practitioner places their hands gently on or over the body and channels the energy (Ki) through their hands to the recipient, activating the body's natural ability to support itself. During the session the recipient may experience a mild tingling sensation or feel warm, or cool, most however feel calm and totally relaxed.
I offer Reiki training courses in the Japanese style of Usui Reiki Ryoho that allows you to discover this for yourself. I am based in Bradwell-On-Sea, Essex.
